What details are needed to check a remote, when copying is possible and when the system requires on-site programming.
What to bring for checking
- a working remote if available
- system or receiver type if known
- how many remotes are needed
- where the remote is used: barrier, gate or parking access
When copying is possible
Many remotes can be copied if the frequency and coding type are compatible with the equipment.
In a regular case we first read the working remote, prepare a copy and verify that it works.
When on-site programming is needed
Some systems do not allow simple remote copying: the new remote must be enrolled in the receiver or control unit.
In this case access rights and system availability are confirmed first so the job is legal and correct.
Price and limitations
Price depends on remote type, frequency, coding method and whether only a duplicate is needed or system enrollment is required.
If the system is closed or access is restricted, limitations are explained first and copying is not promised before checking.
