What to do if you lost your car key

A practical checklist for car key recovery: what to prepare, how timing is estimated and when ownership confirmation is required.

First steps

Do not force the vehicle open or dismantle the lock: this can increase repair cost.

When calling, share the make, model, year, location and whether a spare key exists.

What to prepare before calling

  • vehicle make, model and year
  • a key photo if a broken or old key remains
  • location: Abovyan, Yerevan or another city
  • whether a spare key exists or the key is fully lost

If a spare key exists

A working spare key usually makes the job easier: the chip, shell, buttons and programming option can be checked without opening the vehicle.

In this case it is often better to make a spare key early instead of waiting for a full lost-key situation.

What affects price

  • key type: regular, chip key, smart key or key fob
  • vehicle model and year
  • full loss or spare key available
  • whether call-out service is needed

How the job works

First we confirm vehicle details and key type, then estimate whether a duplicate can be made from a working key or full recovery is required.

Work starts only after technical feasibility is clear and legal authorization for the vehicle is confirmed.

Legal authorization

Car opening and full lost-key recovery are performed only after ownership or legal authorization is confirmed.
